Shelly (4-6 person)

Shelly is our original sauna launched in October 2023 and holds a special place in our hearts.  is made of alder wood and seats 4 people comfortably on a communal session or if you’re all friendly she can take a maximum of 6 people on an exclusive booking. You’ll often find Shelly at Horgabost Beach in Harris or at various weekend pop-ups around the Hebrides. Shelly has a ramp to access and a small porch for storage of water & towels. She has a large panoramic half-moon window that frames the views perfectly. Shelly holds a special place in our hearts as the first mobile outdoor commercial sauna to arrive in the Outer Hebrides and has supplied many islanders with great first outdoor sauna memories across many locations. You can book Shelly exclusively for £105 for up to 6 people (2025 prices).

Mara

mara (6-8 person)

Mara is the newest member of the Saltbox Sauna family and launched in July 2025. Mara is a slightly larger version of Shelly and seats 6 people in a communal session and up to 8 people if you are friendly with one another. Mara also has a large panoramic half-moon window framing the sea views, a small porch for storage of small items and 4 steps with a handrail to enter. You’ll see Mara most often at Bayble Beach on the east side of Lewis which has the shortest walk of all our regular locations directly to the sea. You can book Mara exclusively for £130 for up to 8 people (2025 prices)

Sandy (10-12 person)

Sandy, the bigger boned family member seats 10 people on a communal session and up to 12 people with an exclusive hire. Sandy is mobile but it’s a much bigger operation to move Sandy around so we stay longer in places with Sandy. Sandy has 2 level of seating, a larger porch with shelving for small items and a log store. There are 4 steps and a handrail to a side access with Sandy.

As with all our saunas we have the most impressive views from the panoramic half-moon windows, fire-guarded Harvia wood-burners maintaining sauna temperatures of 80-90 celsius most days and a supply of fresh water that we store in our sauna vans. We are off-grid with no connections to water or electricity so it can feel like you’re camping at a beach sometimes without the draft!
